WELCOMEThank you for dropping by our web site. You will find the atmosphere here to be laid back and casual, as is the case in the office of A Center for Christian Counseling. I run the office for my comfort and I hope the atmosphere is comfortable for my clients. The counseling itself is not laid back. I am straightforward, I get involved in the counseling, I do not just sit back, nod and listen. I have been described by some as “abrupt”, by others as “sometimes abrasive” and I suppose that is true. I believe they are not just making idle comments. In sharing this I hope to encourage you to be the same, straightforward. You are welcome to speak your mind, use any language you wish and not concern yourself with what I may think about you for doing so. I have only two rules in my office. You may not physically attack me nor damage my furniture. |

Short of that you may express yourself in any way that will help me know what is going on with you and understand what you are feeling. You may jump up and down, kick your heels, pace the floors, scream, holler, laugh, weep, and cry. Anything which will help me know what is going on with you. As in my office, I will offer counsel on this web site. I will not psychoanalyze nor do psychotherapy. I am a counselor, not a doctor. In addition, I am an ordained minister. I received my Masters Degree in Counseling with an emphasis in Psychology in 1970 from the Universities of Kansas and was ordained into the Pastoral Ministry in 1980. I view my role here as someone willing to walk alongside, encouraging and exhorting, hurting and damaged people. I do not make it my goal to change anyone, rather to offer insight through teaching and counseling to those who wish to address issues in their own lives and consider adjusting the manner in which they respond to these issues. |

While I do not practice psychotherapy, I do respect this profession and am prepared to refer anyone I believe in need of this help to competent practitioners in the field. I am also trained to recognize mental states which may respond to medication and am willing to make these referrals as well.
Offering counseling over the Internet is a new venture for me and may take some time to perfect. In addition to counseling in my office I presently do some counseling by phone. While I prefer face to face contact, I have found people respond to counseling via telephone as well. I am sure this new method will prove effective and allow me to reach people without being limited to the geographical area in which I live.
